The Heart of Jubilee is a Christian, nonprofit group home. Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where residents will be able to prepare to reenter society with a hopeful future, practical skills, and a sense of well-being.
Chair and President
As Chair and President of the Heart of Jubilee, I was inspired by God as a calling put on my heart in February 2016 to open a home for girls escaping from sex trafficking. My background and areas of managing experience focus on sales for local and national niche markets, as well as 38 years of operations and compliance within the banking industry. When asking God, “Why me,” His response was, “The evangelist Katherine Kuhlman asked me the same question, and I told her because I had already asked two men and they said no.” That’s when I realized it is simply our availability to God who leads us in a specific calling. “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit” said the Lord Almighty, Zechariah 4:6. Then I asked the Lord, “What shall I call it.” He responded, “The Heart of Jubilee, because it is my heart’s desire to restore back to these girls everything the enemy has robbed from them and to give them an abundant life in Me.” Then God said to me, “Be anxious for nothing because the plans I have set before you have already been sealed in Heaven.” So, let us all know that His Will has come to pass. Will you pray with me and ask God how He will lead you to join in our efforts to stop sex trafficking, not only in our community but throughout the United States? God’s Blessings in All God’s abundance over you.
It is my honor and privilege to serve as Vice President of the Heart of Jubilee. I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Francisco State University, and I am currently earning a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. After I left high school I’ve had a longing to help women and children who have been abused. It wasn’t until God led me to the Heart of Jubilee that I found my true passion. Human sex trafficking has been a silent issue that enslaves thousands each year. I feel that through the Heart of Jubilee I can use my faith, education, and experience to help these girls. My desire is to serve God in everything I do, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13.
I was called on by the Chair and dear friend to this position. I said yes willing because ever since I accepted Jesus as my Savior it has been my desire to serve Him. To fight for the rights of others who are less fortunate has always been close to my heart. Most of my professional background is in the area of office management, education, and client care services. During my career, I have managed all aspects of running a construction company, working as an administrator, and have served in various capacities and levels of government agencies. In these positions, I had reporting responsibilities to local, state, and federal government agencies while maintaining compliance and due diligence in all areas of record-keeping. As a government employee, I also received multiple levels of security clearances. It is my desire to serve the Lord and to bring Glory and Honor to His Holy name.
As Treasurer of the Heart of Jubilee, I have spent more than 35 years in the banking and settlement services industry. My many duties included reconciling escrow and title trust accounts with an emphasis on clearing reconciliation items. As technology advanced I became proficient in the use of internet banking products. I have also worked with analyzed analysis statements, reviewing them for accuracy and maximum benefit to our clients. I will use my knowledge and experience to update and maintain the Heart of Jubilee’s bank accounts, reconciliations, and software programs, and I will provide monthly treasurer reports to the Board of Directors. I am honored to be a part of the Heart of Jubilee and its mission to provide a safe, nurturing home for those escaping from the sex trafficking industry.
Director of Activities
As the Director of Activities, I have a degree in Physical Education and have taught at a local high school for more than 30 years, having served as the department chair for 15 years. In addition, I was the director of a very successful and sought after fire academy with responsibility for the development and design of a highly specialized program that taught these young cadets to learn and perform skills needed to be both firefighters as well as productive citizens. I have now decided to devote my life serving the needs that the Lord places on my heart. I consider life a journey, and I am enjoying every moment of it.
Director of Facilities Maintenance
I am a former security specialist, have served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, and have worked for more than 20 years as a program director in gymnastics instruction where I gained an in-depth knowledge of and was responsible for facilities maintenance in multiple facilities. My experience ranged from performing safety inspections to enabling outside maintenance of the plumbing, electrical, and gas systems of multiple buildings that ran gymnastics programs for more than 1,000 children a week who came to train (not counting their numerous parents and siblings who also joined us). These buildings were safety certified by the governing board of gymnastics (USAG) in order to be able to run local, regional, and state competitions. My buildings always passed their quarterly surprise fire/health inspections by local fire authorities. As a Sergeant in the USMC, I was also tasked with facilities maintenance, ranging from the barracks that housed hundreds of Marines to the squadron that housed multiple aircraft with the majority being C-130s. In my time as security specialist/executive protection agent, I was responsible for guarding the lives of many clients, as well as the daily safety and facilities maintenance of their homes and businesses. I also have hands-on experience in specialized electronics alert systems built into the normal security systems that indicated facilities maintenance warnings such as flood, earthquake, fire, and power outage anomalies. I pray my many skills in facilities maintenance will honor God and bless those at the Heart of Jubilee.
Director of Security
It has been my heart’s desire and calling to serve and protect. From my 24 years of training in martial arts ranked with certifications as a 6th degree black belt/instructor in the combat art of Ninjutsu/Budo Taijutsu to my 10 years in the field of high-end security, which includes being a Captain of Special Operations for an executive protection firm, to my service to America as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, I know I will serve to the best of my ability. During my career, I have received numerous awards, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, National Defense Service Medal, twice awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Mast Marine Combat Training, Meritorious Mast-Selected Meritorious Corporal, and Rifle Expert Badge 3rd Award. My experience also ranges from training advance arrest and control techniques to SWAT officers in local law enforcement (within Ventura, LA, and Orange Counties) to being requested and flown out to prepare a PSD (physical security detail) Unit in the art of knife fighting and weapons retention. Immediately after training, the unit was deployed to Afghanistan to protect a Colonel on his mission there for the United States Army.
The Heart of Jubilee Board is blessed to have these highly trained and skilled individuals serve the Lord and bring Honor to His name.
